Measured, not encouraged
TripRank is a measurement tool. Acceleration testing belongs on closed roads, drag strips, and track days — the app records what the car did wherever it legally did it, and the terms are direct about lawful use. What you get is the honest number, not a leaderboard pressuring you into producing one.
How detection actually works
After a trip ends, TripRank walks the recorded trace looking for qualifying intervals: a standstill, then a clean pull through 100 km/h. When it finds one, the run is extracted with its full speed curve and saved against the trip and the vehicle. Nothing to arm, nothing to reset, no missed runs because you forgot to press a button at a stoplight.
Getting clean numbers
- Closed course. Acceleration testing belongs on drag strips, autodromes, and private roads — the timer works wherever the car legally can.
- Flat and straight. Grade and curvature both contaminate a run; the honest comparison is same surface, same direction.
- Open sky. Sprint precision follows GPS quality. Parking-garage launches will not produce numbers worth keeping.
- Watch the history, not one run. Personal bests are tracked per vehicle, and the trend across attempts says more than any single time.
