Smoothness scores the rate of change of G-force: how gradually load builds into a corner or a stop, and how gradually it releases. A swerve and a well-driven corner can hit the same peak; they produce opposite Smoothness results, because one built over half a second of steady input and the other snapped in a tenth.
It is the score that responds fastest to deliberate technique change — earlier brake application, gentler tip-in, one steering input instead of three — which makes it the practical one to watch week over week. Passengers can feel the difference; the score just puts a number on what they felt.
